We work so hard at getting “better people”, at increasing better intelligence and more skills. We want to be liked more and become more popular. The entire self-help business is dedicated to increasing the home in order to become a greater you. That’s another strategy we privately play on ourselves, considering we’ve to keep spinning our wheels wanting to become better. This self-improvement game is another key we are able to to understand to let go of. It is really soothing once you start to realize that you don’t need to become any better than you currently are. You’re made perfect. It’s maybe not through self-improvement that you will find peace but through self-acceptance.
As I worked with A Class in Wonders, I could see that there clearly was a fear of heavenly enjoy in my mind. I noticed this was the ego’s fear of dropping itself. The vanity is afraid of being subjected and being viewed as a puff of nothingness. That’s the fear of intimacy. We talk about this fear in a course in miracles, which may also be predicted as concern with sexual intimacy, but it’s actually a fear of falling our personality, our disguise of individuality. It is the fear of getting swept out by a glorious love, a love therefore strong that none people can also envision anything as wonderful and effective!
For me, those will be the big secrets, as it doesn’t begin with this specific great awareness. It generally begins with feeling like you have done something very wrong, whether you have masturbated, stolen anything, mistreated some one, or there is anything in your thoughts that you’ve judged as therefore hideous that that you do not actually want to manage it, you would like to overlook about any of it and force it out of awareness.
Underneath dozens of thoughts and feelings, is the opinion that people are separated. Here is the “secret” we hide. It really is an difficult belief, but we believe it is true; We’ve judged it as dreadful and have sent it out of awareness. All unconscious shame arises from this opinion in separation. And as you really provide yourself over to the wonder, you are feeling all those concealed beliefs and techniques are now being washed away and you finally experience that concealed opinion in divorce!
